The Autumn 1996 issue of The American Go Extra featured the visit to Los Angeles of Michael Redmond 8 dan.
One of the primary aims of the publication was to promote the activities of professional go players, but hosting Michael’s visit for a week was an honor for the New Gardena Hotel Go Club. Of course, the fact that he speaks Japanese fluently was one reason why he was so popular with the Japanese players who made up the majority of the membership.
